   Who Signed the 'Taxpayer Protection Pledge'

These listings of those who have signed, and those who have violated, the Taxpayer Protection Pledge are from the Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) website. ATR actually runs and administers the program and GRIH assists locally in getting elected officials and candidates to sign. We appreciate your feedback concerning corrections to these listings so that we may inform ATR and facilitate timely updates.

Sam Slom (S-8)(Taxpayer Protection Caucus Chair), Sen. Gordon Trimble (S-12), Rep. Corinne Ching (H-27), Rep. Lynn Finnegan (H-32) (Taxpayer Protection Caucus Chair), Rep. Barbara Marumoto (H-19), Rep. Colleen Meyer (H-47), Rep. Kymberly Pine (H-43), and Rep. Cynthia Thielen (H-50)

2008 State Challengers include Anne Stevens (H-23) and Daniel Douglass (H-31)

Who Did Not Sign

Lt. Gov. Duke Aiona declined our request that he sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. Read his letter to GRIH regarding why he chose to do so.

The following Hawaii State Senators and Representatives have at least responded while declining to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge:

  • Senator Colleen Hanabusa (D), 21st Senatorial District
  • Senator Les Ihara, Jr. (D), 9th Senatorial District
  • Representative Jon Riki Karamatsu Read his reasons why here.
  • Alex M. Sonson (D), 35th Representative District

Mayor Mufi Hanneman declined to sign the Pledge and gave his reasons in an interview, which you can read here.
