GRASSROOT PERSPECTIVE
Happy Human Rights Day!
By Brandon Bosworth
Overshadowed by the big, gluttony-prone holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas, Human Rights Day (December 10th, in case it isn't on your calendars) marks the fortieth anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights—the UDHR—by the United Nations General Assembly...
In theory, this is all well and good. It's easy to be in favor of universal human rights, just as it's easy to be in favor of any general, vague principles, such as equality, democracy, or liberty. It is much harder to actually define what universal human rights are. In trying to define specific human rights, the U.N. was bound to trigger debate, or at least tick some people off.

LIBERTY NEWS
GRIH President Ships Out
GRIH President Jamie Story recently spent some time with the U.S. Navy. In a VIP tour set up by the GRIH Communications Department and the Navy's Pacific Fleet Public Affairs Office, Story flew out to sea and landed on the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. She spent the day touring the ship and learning about what the U.S. Navy's mission is in the Pacific.
"The military is vital in protecting our freedoms, and also serves a primary role in our local Hawaii economy," Story said. "I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the U.S. Navy and life on a carrier. The crew was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and it was truly the chance of a lifetime!"
After lunch with the ship's Commanding Officer she was catapulted off the deck and flew back to the island of Oahu.
