South America via Japan

Jose CordeiroGRIH friend Jose Cordeiro, currently a visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Developing Economics (IDE - JETRO) in Japan, was in town recently and spoke at a number of events. Dr. Cordeiro gave a formal presentation at Hawaii Pacific University sponsored by the HPU Reason Club, Students in Free Enterprise, and the Grassroot Institute, speaking on "Economics of Oil and Power: From South America to Asia."

Cordeiro also spoke at an invitation-only meeting sponsored by GRIH and the Center-Right Coalition. He also addressed Libertarian candidate Li Zhao’s periodic "intellectual salon" called "The Foolish Things - Idea Exchange", where invitees discuss public policy issues.

Cordeiro is an independent consultant, writer, researcher, professor and world wide traveler. A graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (BSc and MSc Mechanical Engineering),he also studied at Georgetown University and the Institute Européen d’Administration des Affaires (MBA). Cordeiro has worked for the French company Schlumberger, as an advisor to many major oil companies, and with the international consulting company Booz-Allen & Hamilton. He is a member of numerous societies and has a resume too lengthy to reproduce here. A Grassroot Insight interview with him will be posted on the GRIH web site in the near future.
