New Movie Examines Who Will Win the Battle of Education Reform

October 1, 2008

FlunkedThe Evergreen Freedom Foundation is pleased to announce the release of Flunked, a new movie narrated by Joe Mantegna. With over an hour of special features, including interviews and an in-depth look at education in America today, Flunked is sure to enlighten, educate, and provide hope to families across America.

For years we’ve read the stories: Results of national and international educational aptitude tests show that the average U.S. student is unable to compete academically. Up through 4th grade, American students are above-average when tested against students of other nations. After that, they begin a steady decline to the point where, by the 12th grade, American students are near the bottom. In short, public education is failing. The new movie highlights the common threads of successful education: strong leadership, high standards, excellent teachers, and solid curricula. By focusing on schools  applying these principles, Flunked sends a message loud and clear: Parents, students, principals, and teachers do not have to settle for mediocrity in their own schools!

Flunked  won Best Educational Documentary at the Bayou City Inspirational Film Festival in Houston, won Honorable Mention in the Accolade Competition and has been accepted into the San Fernando Valley International Film Festival. Film Critic and national radio talk show host Michael Medved called it "a fine film, very informative, very challenging...".
