Working for a better economy, better governance and a better society

As executive director of the University of Hawaii Professional Assembly, J.N. Musto is one of the most powerful union heads in Hawaii. He’s also a product of Detroit, having grown-up in that city, completing his education through the doctoral level there. Musto discusses with Grassroot Institute’s president Keli’i Akina the similarities and differences between Detroit and Hawaii in light of Detroit’s recent declaration of bankruptcy. In this wide-ranging conversation, the two men talk about the nature of power and influence in Hawaii and, generally, “how things work” in the Aloha state. Watch this video to discover J.N. Musto’s answer to the question, “Will Hawaii Become the Next Detroit?”
