In a conversation with Grassroot Institute President Keli’i Akina, economist Ken Schoolland discusses the importance of economics education as a way to understand how the world works.
The two discuss the problems caused by current approaches to economics, such as the emphasis on central government control over fiscal policy and the supply of money. Schoolland favors the Austrian School of economics which promotes free markets, individual liberty and robust entrepreneurship. He also believes most politicians fail to practice good economic principles in their legislation and policy making, but opt instead to make promises to the public that lack a sound economic basis.
