In this ThinkTech video, Dr. Akina speaks with Sherry Menor-McNamara, President of the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce, the voice of business in our state. During their conversation, Dr. Akina and Ms. Menor-McNamara discuss the challenges inherent in creating a business-friendly climate in Hawaii, including the difficult job of educating both the legislature and the public on the economic impact of different policies. Though Hawaii often ends up near the bottom in rankings of business-friendly states, the Chamber of Commerce is working on a proactive response, endorsing policies that would improve Hawaii’s economic competitiveness.
