Recently, Dr. Akina, President of the Grassroot Institute appeared on “The Conversation,” Hawaii Public Radio’s on-air discussion of current events. Dr. Akina discussed the joint investigation with Judicial Watch that led to a lawsuit to compel disclosure of the Native Hawaiian Roll. In the process, a number of important issues were raised regarding how names were added to the Roll and even the use of funds meant for the betterment of Native Hawaiians in compiling the documents. Now that the Roll has been made public, the debate has grown stronger and many are wondering what the next steps will be.
