“While stationed on Oahu while in the Marine Corps, I met my wife, who was born and raised on Oahu. Our first son was born at Queen’s Hospital, and my wife was pregnant with our second as we prepared for our journey to the mainland.
“We decided that when I got out of the Marines, we would move back to Oregon, where I was originally from, due to the high cost of living in Hawaii. We often contemplate moving back to Hawaii, and we have visited the islands every year since we got out. But each time we return we are reminded of how high the cost of living is there, and it reassures us that we have made the right decision in raising our family in Oregon.”
