It seems like every day there is a new report revealing yet another social or economic problem in Hawaii. But if people speak out and let policymakers know what’s on their minds, things can change.
That’s what Keli’i Akina, president of the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, told KSSK radio host Michael W. Perry on Friday, May 24, during his appearance on the popular “Perry & the Posse” show.
Perry had expressed doubt that things will ever change in Hawaii.
“I live in hope that people will speak out, but we keep electing the same people over and over, and they keep doing the same thing,” Perry said. “And that’s why our homeless problem never gets solved; none of our problems ever get solved, do they?”
Akina reassured Perry: “You know, Michael, I’m not giving up hope. I think that if we get ourselves educated, talk to our public politicians, we’re going to see some results.”
