Let Hawaii Work: Roy Wemyss’ story

“We run Kula Herbs, a business that sells organic soap, and exports 90% of its production — to the neighboring islands, Japan, Guam, Saipan and the mainland.

“We were shut down because we’re “nonessential.” We don’t have any customers other than a few web sales. We haven’t received any assistance in any form.

“We’re still obligated to pay rent with zero income, zero stimulus checks, zero deferrals, zero help.

“The current situation is draining the little equity we have. Our lawmakers need to step up and step in or watch the small business community dissolve.
