The negative economic effects of the Jones Act are well-documented. Its restrictions on shipbuilding and cargo shipping increase the cost of living and raise the price of doing business in Hawaii, and represent a constant drain on our economy nationwide. The Grassroot Institute of Hawaii supports Jones Act reform that would address the Act’s shipbuilding and cabotage restrictions.
